A rocky footpath follows the river past abandoned cabins, waterfalls, and cottonwoods on this 16 mile round trip trail.

Trailhead parking is located approximately 1/4 mile east of South Steens campground on the Loop Road. Walk up the Loop Road another 1/4 mile. The trail begins on the left and is marked with a small brown sign. There is river crossings on this hike. In early summer, use extreme caution when attempting a crossing because of swift, deep water. Best time to hike July- October.
